In the 4th minute, Renato Lira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Pedrão Sabóia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 6th minute Renato Lira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Motta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Faria SS's Nelson Messias got control of the ball when Luiz Fabiano Mendonça tried to sneak it across the goal line. 10 minutes into the game, Armando Branco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Faria SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itiuca the free kick. A collision led to Faria SS getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Armando Branco hit a great ball. Pedrão Sabóia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Nelson Motta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th minute, Henrique Messias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Renato Lira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Pedrão Sabóia's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nelson Motta was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. With a little luck, Faria SS's Nelson Messias got control of the ball when Luiz Fabiano Mendonça tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luiz Fabiano Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Messias having to interfere. If Renato Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Faria SS's Renato Lira got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pedrão Sabóia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Motta having to interfere. Nelson Motta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renato Lira, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jarbas do Vale made a kick off. Faria SS's Nelson Messias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fabiano Mendonça in the 55th minute of play. Rafael Paranaense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rd minute, Jarbas do Vale made a precise shot to the right of Nelson Messias. Faria SS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. In the 71st match minute, Itiuca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aleandro Urbano to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Faria SS's Edvaldo Alves tried to score from far away in the 72nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Pedrão Sabóia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Motta having to interfere. When Jarbas do Vale came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Itiuca fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jarbas do Vale couldn't finish the play. If Renato Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Geovânio França's late challenge caught a Faria SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Geovânio França helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Faria SS booed when Itiuca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovânio França didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedrão Sabóia got free with Nelson Motta in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Faria SS's Pedrão Sabóia slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nelson Motta. That made the score 2-1 after 88 minutes of play. Itiuca's Nelson Motta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Itiuca from getting a goal against them. Faria SS's Nelson Messias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jarbas do Vale in the 96th minute of play. Nelson Messias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jarbas do Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Itiuca fans cheered their team off the field, for while Faria SS had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
