But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Armindo Neves couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Lascadinha SS's Washington Carioca got a free kick in the 12th minute. After having played for 16 minutes, Jacinto Prestes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lascadinha SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jacinto Prestes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benedito Rosado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Chico Moura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Benedito Rosado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lascadinha SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Benedito Rosado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chico Moura breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Egídio Senna's late challenge caught a Lascadinha SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Egídio Senna helped the player get up and apologised. If Armindo Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Armindo Neves blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sydney Branco having to make a save. If Marcus Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Sydney Branco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcus Paiva in the 36th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Benedito Rosado got free with Chico Moura in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. During the 39th minute of the match Egídio Senna completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Egídio Senna a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Jacinto Prestes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 44 played minutes Capoeiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Marcus Paiva. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Armindo Neves made a kick off. 54 minutes into the game, Eliézer Motta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Capoeiro SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lascadinha SS the free kick. In the 55th minute Benedito Rosado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chico Moura saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacinto Prestes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chico Moura having to interfere.
