The audience was convinced that Diogo Matorin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rubens Donato was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. 14 minutes into the game, one of Cerrado:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Rubens Donato had in the 15thth minute some difficulties stopping Rômulo Correia's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After some careless play in the Cerrado defense, Rômulo Correia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rubens Donato. The Cerrado fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rubens Donato should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, José Maria Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Massa Bruta's supporters rose to their feet, but José Maria Barros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rubens Donato breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Túlio Torres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benê Alagoano, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After a rather tough play, Cerrado's Mauro Leão got a free kick in the 27th minute. Rômulo Correia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Lúcio Luz hit a great ball. 40 minutes into the match, Diogo Matorin notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Cerrado's Rubens Donato. Rubens Donato was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Diogo Matorin to make the kick off. Diogo Matorin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rubens Donato having to interfere. When Diogo Matorin came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Massa Bruta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Diogo Matorin couldn't finish the play. In the 96th minute, Rômulo Correia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Cerrado fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Massa Bruta were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
