In the 3rd minute, one of Mutucal:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mutucal. The referee gave Borgueto AD a penalty, 5 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Serginho Leite, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Mutucal's Adolfo Simão. 1-0. After a rather tough play, Borgueto AD's Elano Ramos got a free kick in the 8th minute. After 15 minutes of play, Mutucal's Luizinho Rezende made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Flávio Queirós was left in no man's land by his defense there! Flávio Queirós stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dorival Hermes's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Osmar Bezerra struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Adolfo Simão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Borgueto AD. Dorival Hermes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Flávio Queirós read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Mutucal's goal looked a bit too open when Maurinho Costa came free, but Adolfo Simão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Maurinho Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Adolfo Simão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Osmar Bezerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luizinho Rezende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Flávio Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dorival Hermes, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luizinho Rezende to strike the kick off in the second half. Borgueto AD's Flávio Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizinho Rezende in the 53rd minute of play. Luizinho Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flávio Queirós having to interfere. If Osmar Bezerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Borgueto AD's zone, Dorival Hermes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flávio Queirós came out of the goal and Dorival Hermes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 63 played minutes Borgueto AD got a freekick which was hit by Elano Ramos. Luizinho Rezende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Borgueto AD's Flávio Queirós got control of the ball when Dorival Hermes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Maurinho Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Osmar Bezerra in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adolfo Simão prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Gino de Amorim fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mutucal's protests and gave Gino de Amorim a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Mutucal's Gino de Amorim got a free kick in the 84th minute. Osmar Bezerra kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Adolfo Simão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maurinho Costa in the 91st minute of the match. Flávio Queirós made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luizinho Rezende in the 93rd minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mutucal walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
