Salina's Fausto Koehler proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Salina from getting a goal against them. In the 43rd minute, Luizinho Albuquerque got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Salina's Laércio Sarmento in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joaquim Zilles to make the kick off.
