The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Umberto Arruda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Inácio do Valle in the 12th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Mapana's zone, Luís Fabiano Pernambucano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Umberto Arruda came out of the goal and Luís Fabiano Pernambucano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Noel Viana charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Noel Viana the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Mapana getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Noel Viana hit a great ball. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 18th minute, but Umberto Arruda got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Mapana hanging dry this time. Mapana's Kiko Paulista got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Charles da Cunha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kiko Paulista, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Canicora EC's Charles da Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kiko Paulista in the 27th minute of play. Charles da Cunha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kiko Paulista, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 38th minute Caetano de Lara suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by José Augusto Trigo during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Benê Linares took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 40th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Umberto Arruda. Mapana's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 43rd minute, Carlos Mineiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Inácio do Valle kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Mapana were awarded a corner in the 47th minute after Canicora EC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gilberto Sampaio took the corner. Mapana's Franklin Brodel was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Charles da Cunha in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luís Fabiano Pernambucano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Carlos Mineiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Carlos Mineiro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Charles da Cunha. That made the score 0-1 in the 59 minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Kiko Paulista managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mapana's supporters rose to their feet, but Kiko Paulista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charles da Cunha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mapana's Umberto Arruda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Fabiano Pernambucano in the 69th minute of play. In the 71st minute Carlos Mineiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Charles da Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mapana's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
