The supporters of Fojos booed when Mauriti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cacá Breckenfeld didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Mauriti's Jerônimo Romero in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Fojos's goalie prevented a goal. Guga Tavares charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Guga Tavares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Fojos's Guga Tavares got a free kick in the 11th minute. Simão Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Simão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Luiz Urbano, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Fojos's Simão Berger came free and shot a quick shot against goal 18 minutes in the game, fortunately Daniel Simão had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Dinei Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Isaltino Gerber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd minute, Jerônimo Romero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fojos's Isaltino Gerber played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerônimo Romero in the 25th minute of play. Isaltino Gerber came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Mauriti's Dinei Tinoco. But to his dismay, Dinei Tinoco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Dinei Tinoco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerônimo Romero in the 35th minute of play forced Fojos's goalkeeper Isaltino Gerber to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Dinei Tinoco came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Mauriti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dinei Tinoco couldn't finish the play. Isaltino Gerber stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jerônimo Romero's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. Mauriti's Jerônimo Romero got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Fojos's Nico Quadros got a free kick in the 45th minute. The Fojos players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mauriti were winning 0-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and André Luiz Urbano made a kick off. If Simão Berger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dinei Tinoco struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Isaltino Gerber didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mauriti. 58 minutes into the match, Mauriti's goal looked a bit too open when André Luiz Urbano came free, but Daniel Simão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 67 minutes of play Fojos's Guga Tavares was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Jerônimo Romero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dinei Tinoco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 75thth minute tested the skills of Isaltino Gerber when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Jerônimo Romero recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Simão Berger hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Jerônimo Romero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Simão Berger's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Daniel Simão was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. Isaltino Gerber made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dinei Tinoco in the 97th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mauriti walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
