Osvaldinho Arósio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oséas Pena in the 5th minute of play. Cathe EC's Eliézer Meirelles got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Osvaldinho Arósio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oséas Pena in the 13th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the game, Rômulo Netto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ibitiuna's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cathe EC the free kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eliézer Meirelles in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edmundo Antunes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eliézer Meirelles's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edmundo Antunes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. When Germano Silva came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Ibitiuna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Germano Silva couldn't finish the play. In the 33rd minute, Elano Prestes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 37th minute, Patrício Fernandes sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Ibitiuna's Edmundo Antunes didn't even have to move. 41 minutes into the game, Anselmo Magalhães was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cathe EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ibitiuna the free kick. Anselmo Magalhães hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Ibitiuna's Alessandro Prata got a free kick in the 42nd minute. In the 45th minute Elano Prestes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmundo Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 47 minutes, Eliézer Meirelles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cathe EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliézer Meirelles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Elano Prestes to strike the kick off in the second half. Elano Prestes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edmundo Antunes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. Cipriano Ribeiro hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. 63 minutes into the match, Germano Silva had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Osvaldinho Arósio. Cathe EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Germano Silva was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Oséas Pena hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. If Eliézer Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Cathe EC's Elano Prestes in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ibitiuna's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Cathe EC booed when Ibitiuna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oséas Pena didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st minute, Germano Silva made a precise shot to the right of Osvaldinho Arósio. Cathe EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Germano Silva's late challenge caught a Cathe EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Germano Silva helped the player get up and apologised. If Eliézer Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Ibitiuna's zone, Elano Prestes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmundo Antunes came out of the goal and Elano Prestes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Ibitiuna defense, Eliézer Meirelles kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edmundo Antunes. The Ibitiuna fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edmundo Antunes should have stopped the shot. The Cathe EC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Ibitiuna from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
