Juninho Correia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romeu Novaes, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Muriu's zone, Ricardo Souza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edu Medeiros came out of the goal and Ricardo Souza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 13 minutes into the match, Muriu's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardo Souza came free, but Edu Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Frederico Chaves kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Juninho Correia was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Carlos Alberto Passos. A collision led to Iaunari getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Mathias Veiga hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Iaunari's zone, Romário Moreira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juninho Correia came out of the goal and Romário Moreira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Luciano Mesquita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Muriu's supporters rose to their feet, but Luciano Mesquita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juninho Correia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 40th minute Luciano Mesquita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juninho Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edu Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Noel de Sena in the 45th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Ricardo Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edu Medeiros having to interfere. Edu Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Souza in the 59th minute of play. Ricardo Souza took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edu Medeiros. Edu Medeiros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Juninho Correia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romário Moreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Juninho Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romário Moreira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luciano Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 89th minute of the match, Ricardo Souza tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Edu Medeiros saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After some careless play in the Iaunari defense, Romário Moreira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Juninho Correia. The Iaunari fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juninho Correia should have stopped the shot. When Noel de Sena came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Iaunari fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Noel de Sena couldn't finish the play. Edu Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
