The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Samuel Baiano was out of position in the 4 minute of play, and Enrique Freire capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Caboco's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Iraguacu the free kick. A collision led to Caboco getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Enrique Freire hit a great ball. The supporters of Caboco booed when Iraguacu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Noel Novaes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caboco's Luiz Fernando Pirani couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 13th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Iraguacu. Raí Tepedino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Durvalino de Andrade charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Durvalino de Andrade the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Caboco's Durvalino de Andrade got a free kick in the 18th minute. Sidney Brodel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raí Tepedino in the 19th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Raí Tepedino's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sidney Brodel was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arí Dante in the 24th minute of play forced Caboco's goalkeeper Sidney Brodel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Enrique Freire ran back to his position shaking his head. Iraguacu's Samuel Baiano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Iraguacu from getting a goal against them. After 40 minutes, Rubens Rosa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caboco and the Iraguacu players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Iraguacu booed when Caboco was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubens Rosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 43rd minute Raí Tepedino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sidney Brodel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Samuel Baiano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enrique Freire's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 62 minutes into the game, one of Caboco:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. If Elano Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arí Antunes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Sidney Brodel made a huge save.
