Marcel Cardozo acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 5th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Dedê Rossi. Marcel Cardozo made an important save on a dangerous shot by José Carlos Vieira in the 7th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Capibaribe AD's goal looked a bit too open when Claudinho Trancoso came free, but Marcel Cardozo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcel Cardozo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinho Trancoso in the 24th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claudinho Trancoso in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcel Cardozo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 27th match minute, Os LargadoS N.A.S. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dedê Rossi to maneuver through the defense. Marcel Cardozo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Trancoso in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vítor Travassos in the 31st minute of play forced Os LargadoS N.A.S.'s goalkeeper Dino Salgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Carlos Vieira got free with Marcel Cardozo in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Claudinho Trancoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 46 minutes, Dedê Rossi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Os LargadoS N.A.S.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Dedê Rossi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. José Carlos Vieira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Marcel Cardozo made a huge save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

If Dedê Rossi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Claudinho Trancoso put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Marcel Cardozo.
