The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rodolfo de Souza struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Gil Magalhães didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Moema. Rodolfo de Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 12 minutes into the match, Marcus Secco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gil Magalhães. Paulas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcus Secco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Marcus Secco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Moema's Rodolfo de Souza in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Paulas's goalie prevented a goal. After having played for 36 minutes, Rodolfo de Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Moema's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rodolfo de Souza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rodolfo de Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gil Magalhães having to interfere. In the 40th match minute, Paulas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victor Pires to maneuver through the defense. When Marcus Secco came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Moema fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcus Secco couldn't finish the play. Moema's Rodolfo de Souza got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Moema booed when Paulas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victor Pires didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Rodolfo de Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Emerson Neiva made the kick off in the second half. Gil Magalhães didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marcus Secco went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Emerson Neiva's late challenge caught a Moema's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emerson Neiva helped the player get up and apologised. In the 70th minute, Emerson Neiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 72 played minutes Paulas got a freekick which was hit by Valdo Sá. Moema's Marcus Secco got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexsandro Ramos in the 77th minute of play forced Moema's goalkeeper Márcio Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Márcio Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emerson Neiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. When Rafael Passos fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Moema's protests and gave Rafael Passos a yellow card for diving instead. After 82 played minutes Moema got a freekick which was hit by Rafael Passos. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Rodolfo de Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Moema's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodolfo de Souza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gil Magalhães breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gil Magalhães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodolfo de Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rodolfo de Souza in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gil Magalhães prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match was over Moema could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Paulas throughout the match.
