The referee showed Aílton Pires the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Serji's Aílton Pires got a free kick in the 13th minute. The supporters of Curiau booed when Serji was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Mumbach didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zé Augusto Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Axel Andreasson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Marcel Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curiau's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcel Pires was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valdir Pena breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marcel Pires struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Valdir Pena didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Curiau. Virgílio Matorin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Marcus Mumbach fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Serji's protests and gave Marcus Mumbach a yellow card for diving instead. Curiau's Axel Andreasson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredinho Gonçalves in the 41st minute of play.

The wind increased when Marcel Pires made the kick off in the second half. Axel Andreasson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Augusto Berger in the 52nd minute of the match. Curiau's Marcel Pires got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 55 minutes into the match, Serji's goal looked a bit too open when Benjamim da Mata came free, but Valdir Pena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zé Augusto Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valdir Pena made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcel Pires in the 71st minute.
