Nuguacu's Rui Cearense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilian da Silveira in the 43rd minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Silvinho Chaves struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Valdo Dante didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nuguacu. In the 53rd match minute, Santa Cruz Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilian da Silveira to maneuver through the defense. Nuguacu's Tadeu Trancoso got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
