The supporters of Itaio EC booed when Lencois SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Conrado Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dráusio Schmidt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dedê Cunha came free with the goalkeeper in the 15th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Márcio Mota could save by the left post. When Inácio Barbosa fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lencois SC's protests and gave Inácio Barbosa a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Lencois SC's Inácio Barbosa got a free kick in the 16th minute. If Dráusio Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomás Alves in the 22nd minute of play forced Itaio EC's goalkeeper Luizinho Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Itaio EC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Flávio Azevedo hit a great ball. Luizinho Barros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Renatinho Fonseca in the 24th minute of the match. Dedê Cunha came free with the goalkeeper in the 27th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Márcio Mota could save by the left post. Dedê Cunha made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 30thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Márcio Mota would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by Lencois SC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Valdir Novaes was slow to take the kick. During this time Itaio EC's players had a chance to rest. Valdir Novaes made a great header on Itaio EC's corner, it was just that Lencois SC's Márcio Mota managed to reach the ball for a save. Dráusio Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Márcio Mota tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 48th minute, Tomás Alves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomás Alves stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dráusio Schmidt in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Márcio Mota saved Lencois SC from getting behind. In the 59th minute, Dráusio Schmidt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luizinho Barros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomás Alves in the 67th minute of the match. When Tomás Alves came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Lencois SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomás Alves couldn't finish the play. Itaio EC were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
