After a defensive mix-up in Goiabeiras's zone, Giuseppe Britto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fábio de Andrade came out of the goal and Giuseppe Britto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of Goiabeiras:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Metal FC:s goal. 4-0 came through a penalty shot after 21 played minutes, when Metal FC:s Gilberto Teixeira calmly waited for Goiabeiras:s goalkeeper to move before he rolled in the ball by the right post. Giuseppe Britto struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Fábio de Andrade didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Metal FC. Fábio de Andrade stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gildo Paraense's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Metal FC's goalkeeper Zé Carlos Prado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Fábio de Andrade showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gildo Paraense, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 36th match minute, Metal FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sandrinho Arantes to maneuver through the defense. Giuseppe Britto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fábio de Andrade read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Metal FC had played much better football throughout.
