Chiquinho Jacinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denílson Zanette, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Chiquinho Jacinto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denílson Zanette in the 18th minute of play. Itanhandu's Chiquinho Jacinto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denílson Zanette in the 20th minute of play. Itanhandu's Chiquinho Jacinto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Itanhandu from getting a goal against them. Denílson Zanette sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Chiquinho Jacinto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roger da Cunha in the 31st minute. Roger da Cunha struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Chiquinho Jacinto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santo. After a rather tough play, Santo's Cristóvão Amorim got a free kick in the 36th minute. Dedé Zonta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evandro de Medeiros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nelson Vieira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dedé Zonta having to interfere. Hernani Diniz's late challenge caught a Santo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hernani Diniz helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Itanhandu getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Hernani Diniz hit a great ball. Chiquinho Jacinto made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Roger da Cunha sent off a good shot on target. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Denílson Zanette to make the kick off. Chiquinho Jacinto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denílson Zanette in the 52nd minute of play. Dedé Zonta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evandro de Medeiros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felippe Valle came free with the goalkeeper in the 61st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dedé Zonta could save by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Itanhandu's zone, Roger da Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chiquinho Jacinto came out of the goal and Roger da Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Santo's Tião de Amaral got a free kick in the 72nd minute. A collision led to Itanhandu getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Téo de Alcântara hit a great ball. Eugênio Motta took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 75th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Chiquinho Jacinto. Itanhandu's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Dedé Zonta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evandro de Medeiros in the 82nd minute of play. Roger da Cunha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Chiquinho Jacinto having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evandro de Medeiros in the 92nd minute of play forced Santo's goalkeeper Dedé Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
