Albertino da Silveira came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Aracazinho's Richard Neves. But to his dismay, Richard Neves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. When Nilton Queirós came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Malu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nilton Queirós couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Aracazinho booed when Malu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dênis Abreu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jorginho da Mata might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Albertino da Silveira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jorginho da Mata ran back to his position shaking his head. If Richard Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Malu's Albertino da Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorginho da Mata in the 25th minute of play. A collision led to Malu getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Rogério Mattos hit a great ball. In the 26th minute of the match, Jorginho da Mata tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Albertino da Silveira saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 28 minutes into the match, Malu's goalkeeper Albertino da Silveira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Richard Neves. Jaime Vieira was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 33 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 33rd minute of the game. One of Aracazinho:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Malu:s goal. The referee gave Malu a penalty, 35 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Geovânio Damião, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Aracazinho's Simão Cardozo. 1-1. A collision led to Aracazinho getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Remo Quirino hit a great ball. With a little luck, Malu's Albertino da Silveira got control of the ball when Richard Neves tried to sneak it across the goal line. Naldo Barral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Richard Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Albertino da Silveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 48 minutes into the game, Aracazinho's Remo Quirino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Albertino da Silveira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Richard Neves might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Albertino da Silveira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Richard Neves ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 63rd minute Nilton Queirós shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simão Cardozo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 64th match minute, Aracazinho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Naldo Barral to maneuver through the defense. If Ronaldo Vides had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Richard Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Richard Neves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albertino da Silveira having to interfere. Malu's Albertino da Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard Neves in the 79th minute of play. After 82 minutes of play, Aracazinho's Naldo Barral made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Albertino da Silveira was left in no man's land by his defense there! Albertino da Silveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richard Neves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Naldo Barral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Aracazinho booed when Malu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rogério Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Richard Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 98 minutes, Richard Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aracazinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Richard Neves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aracazinho's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
