Umberto Batista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ademar Ferreira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 5 played minutes Colona FC got a freekick which was hit by Fabrício Soares. A sloppy throw-in by Egídio Ribeiro in the 10th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Atlético Cruz's Ernani Dantas. Ernani Dantas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernesto Antunes having to interfere. In the 12th minute, Colona FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Haroldo Custódio fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 17 minutes into the game, Ernani Dantas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atlético Cruz's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Colona FC the free kick. After 17 played minutes Atlético Cruz got a freekick which was hit by Ernani Dantas. A collision led to Atlético Cruz getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Eurico Capixaba hit a great ball. In the 20th minute of the match Pedro de Souza shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Umberto Batista showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Umberto Batista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ademar Ferreira in the 21st minute of play. When Anderson Barral fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Colona FC's protests and gave Anderson Barral a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Colona FC's Anderson Barral got a free kick in the 29th minute. In the 30th minute, Fabrício Soares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Haroldo Custódio in the 34thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ernesto Antunes, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The supporters of Atlético Cruz booed when Colona FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabrício Soares didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ademar Ferreira in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Umberto Batista saved Atlético Cruz from getting behind. Ernani Dantas hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Haroldo Custódio took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Ernesto Antunes to make any attempt to save it. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Ademar Ferreira made the kick off in the second half. Armando Melo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Umberto Batista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anderson Barral in the 56th minute of play. Adelino Meira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Atlético Cruz booed when Colona FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marquinhos Simões didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Haroldo Custódio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ernesto Antunes was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Fabrício Soares's late challenge caught a Atlético Cruz's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fabrício Soares helped the player get up and apologised. In the 72nd minute, Eurico Capixaba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 77 minutes into the match, Colona FC's goal looked a bit too open when Haroldo Custódio came free, but Ernesto Antunes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Umberto Batista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ademar Ferreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Colona FC's zone, Ernani Dantas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernesto Antunes came out of the goal and Ernani Dantas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Colona FC's Armando Melo got a free kick in the 83rd minute. When Atlético Cruz's Haroldo Custódio in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Colona FC's goalie prevented a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Haroldo Custódio in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ernesto Antunes saved Colona FC from getting behind.
