When the match clock showed 24 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Gonçalo Paraense sped through Senegal's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Hugo Carioca. After 27 minutes, Nicolas Carioca mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carajazinho SS and the Senegal players grew even worse after the yellow card. Perivaldo Abreu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Bezerra in the 31st minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gilberto de Amorim during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Senegal's Hugo Carioca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Senegal from getting a goal against them. 60 minutes into the match, Leopoldo Senna had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Perivaldo Abreu. Carajazinho SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leopoldo Senna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Gilberto de Amorim hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Gonçalo Paraense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 74th minute José Bezerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Perivaldo Abreu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 75 played minutes Carajazinho SS got a freekick which was hit by Nicolas Carioca. 92 minutes into the match, Carajazinho SS's Gonçalo Paraense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hugo Carioca narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpected shot in the 94th minute by Gonçalo Paraense got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Carajazinho SS eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
