A collision led to Sorocaba getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Américo Perez hit a great ball. Sebastião Pires took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Remo Mazza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Remo Mazza took the ball and in the 10 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sebastião Pires. Sebastião Pires dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The audience was convinced that Remo Mazza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sebastião Pires was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Válter Quirino in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilmar Neto saved IbiquaraPR from getting behind. IbiquaraPR's Gilmar Neto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save IbiquaraPR from getting a goal against them. In the 30th minute, Caco Arósio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Henrique Tinoco managed to get in a good position for a shot. IbiquaraPR's supporters rose to their feet, but Henrique Tinoco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sebastião Pires breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Sidnei Baiano came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Sorocaba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sidnei Baiano couldn't finish the play. Henrique Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Sebastião Pires tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th minute of the game, Sidnei Baiano landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After 45 minutes, Francisco Rosado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the IbiquaraPR and the Sorocaba players grew even worse after the yellow card.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Remo Mazza to strike the kick off in the second half. Remo Mazza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebastião Pires read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Gilmar Neto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enéas Sampaio in the 77th minute of play. Henrique Tinoco struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Sebastião Pires didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for IbiquaraPR. The crowd rose to their feet as IbiquaraPR's Remo Mazza slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sebastião Pires. That made the score 1-2 after 88 minutes of play.
