After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Ronaldão Secco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bacue SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Ronaldão Secco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Umberto Vinhas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Severino Sarmento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enéas Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Bacue SS getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Edu Xavier hit a great ball. Ronaldão Secco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 21 minutes into the match, Bacue SS's Vitório Peixoto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Umberto Vinhas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jefferson Rosa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Sarmento having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jefferson Rosa in the 36th minute of play forced Bacue SS's goalkeeper Severino Sarmento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th match minute, Guedes SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denílson Brasil to maneuver through the defense. Vitório Peixoto charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vitório Peixoto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Vitório Peixoto hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. If Ronaldão Secco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Ronaldão Secco struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Umberto Vinhas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bacue SS. After 75 played minutes Bacue SS got a freekick which was hit by Alex Pombal. Enéas Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severino Sarmento having to interfere. A collision led to Guedes SC getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Carlos Eduardo Linhares hit a great ball. In the 84th minute Dinei Vander saw that he had a good position to shoot and he shot a long ball on target, but the ball went just outside the left post. The supporters of Bacue SS booed when Guedes SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Mesquita didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vitório Peixoto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Umberto Vinhas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. If Vitório Peixoto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Severino Sarmento came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Guedes SC's Percival Pombal. But to his dismay, Percival Pombal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The Guedes SC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
