But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antônio Carlos Urbano couldn't finish the play. Régis Sergipano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredinho Martins having to interfere. After 12 played minutes Heliópolis FC got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Alberto de Queiroz. Doriva de Toledo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Alfredinho Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Heliópolis FC's Jano de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Magno Jacinto in the 17th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Régis Sergipano notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Cambuis SC's Alfredinho Martins. Alfredinho Martins was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cambuis SC's Alfredinho Martins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doriva de Toledo in the 28th minute of play. The supporters of Cambuis SC booed when Heliópolis FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fred Fontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 32 minutes, Antônio Carlos Urbano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cambuis SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antônio Carlos Urbano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 36th minute, Cambuis SC's Magno Jacinto dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Doriva de Toledo to strike the kick off in the second half. Régis Sergipano took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alfredinho Martins. Alfredinho Martins dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. If Doriva de Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 60 minutes, Carlos Alberto de Queiroz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Heliópolis FC and the Cambuis SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 60th minute, Carlos Alberto de Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Antônio Carlos Urbano was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 61st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Heliópolis FC's Régis Sergipano slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alfredinho Martins. That made the score 1-3 after 71 minutes of play. If Régis Sergipano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Doriva de Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Doriva de Toledo might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alfredinho Martins. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Doriva de Toledo ran back to his position shaking his head. Doriva de Toledo succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-4 in the 82nd playminute. After a rather tough play, Cambuis SC's Dinei Borges got a free kick in the 85th minute. 86 minutes into the match, Heliópolis FC's Valdo de Lara broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 88 minutes into the game, Heliópolis FC's Doriva de Toledo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alfredinho Martins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5.
