Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Heliópolis FC's Doriva de Toledo started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Régis Sergipano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Mazinho Vergílio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mazinho Vergílio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Doriva de Toledo went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edson Vale during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience held their breath when Carlos Alberto de Queiroz in the 10th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Mazinho Vergílio's left hand side. In the 12th minute, Doriva de Toledo made a precise shot to the right of Mazinho Vergílio. Iara AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Mazinho Vergílio stood somewhat misplaced when Doriva de Toledo came free in front of goal and shot 3-0 to the left of him in the 15 minute. Mazinho Vergílio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Régis Sergipano's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Iara AD's goal looked a bit too open when Régis Sergipano came free, but Mazinho Vergílio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tales Mendonça's late challenge caught a Heliópolis FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tales Mendonça helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Iara AD getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Tales Mendonça hit a great ball. After 21 played minutes Heliópolis FC got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Alberto de Queiroz. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Fabiano Dante in the 22nd minute of play forced Heliópolis FC's goalkeeper Jano de Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rd minute, Cléber Maciel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Iara AD's zone, Doriva de Toledo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mazinho Vergílio came out of the goal and Doriva de Toledo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Heliópolis FC booed when Iara AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duda Maciel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valdo de Lara, 28 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Régis Sergipano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mazinho Vergílio having to make a save. If Régis Sergipano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Doriva de Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

Mazinho Vergílio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Régis Sergipano, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Doriva de Toledo in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mazinho Vergílio saved Iara AD from getting behind. After 55 played minutes Heliópolis FC got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Alberto de Queiroz. After recieving a nice pass, Iara AD's Genílson de Amorim tried to score from far away in the 56th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Régis Sergipano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Mazinho Vergílio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 62 minutes of play, Heliópolis FC's Régis Sergipano made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mazinho Vergílio was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match had gone on for 66 minutes, Doriva de Toledo put it in 7-0 from a short distance just to the right of Mazinho Vergílio. When Heliópolis FC's Claudinei Trancoso in the 70th minute got a chance for a shot 70th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Iara AD's goalie prevented a goal. Cléber Maciel's late challenge caught a Heliópolis FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. Mazinho Vergílio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Doriva de Toledo in the 73rd minute of the match. 8-0 became the score in the 75th minute when Régis Sergipano elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Heliópolis FC's Carlinhos Alvarenga got a free kick in the 79th minute. After having played for 80 minutes, Tales Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Iara AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tales Mendonça was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mazinho Vergílio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Régis Sergipano went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 9-0 was the resulting score. Doriva de Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mazinho Vergílio having to interfere. The supporters of Iara AD booed when Heliópolis FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Alberto de Queiroz didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that Heliópolis FC were the better team. Heliópolis FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
