When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Mazinho Senna took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Percy Vinhas to make any attempt to save it. After recieving a nice pass, Romelandia's Claudinei de Azevedo tried to score from far away in the 9th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Tomé Simões didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Oséas Luz went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 13th minute, Bernardo Maia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Adelino Novaes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oséas Luz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomé Simões having to interfere. A collision led to Arruda getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Angelo Fernandes hit a great ball. Adelino Novaes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arruda's Tomé Simões played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oséas Luz in the 28th minute of play. Adelino Novaes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romelandia's Adelino Novaes got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 38 minutes, José Vítor Severo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Romelandia and the Arruda players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Romelandia's José Vítor Severo got a free kick in the 38th minute. Kaká Recife could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Percy Vinhas made a huge save. Tomé Simões showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adelino Novaes in the 43rd minute of the match. Adelino Novaes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Oséas Luz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tomé Simões was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Mazinho Senna made the kick off in the second half. Percy Vinhas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mazinho Senna in the 52nd minute of play. In the 54th minute, Adelino Novaes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adelino Novaes got free with Tomé Simões in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Oséas Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomé Simões made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oséas Luz in the 64th minute of play. With a little luck, Arruda's Tomé Simões got control of the ball when Adelino Novaes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Adelino Novaes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomé Simões having to interfere. If Oséas Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adelino Novaes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 76thth minute tested the skills of Tomé Simões when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 77th minute Oséas Luz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomé Simões saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oséas Luz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomé Simões having to interfere. Tomé Simões made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Adelino Novaes sent off a good shot on target. When Oséas Luz came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Romelandia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oséas Luz couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bernardo Maia during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 87th match minute, Romelandia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardo Maia to maneuver through the defense. When Oséas Luz came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Romelandia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oséas Luz couldn't finish the play. Tomé Simões took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oséas Luz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adelino Novaes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tomé Simões read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. Arruda succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Romelandia had controlled the match.
