In the 8th minute, one of Grajau AD:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Grajau AD. The goalkeeper, Ronaldinho de Medeiros, was totally fooled by Itapora's Ademar Koehler, who 10 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 13th minute Aírton Mello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldinho de Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Erasmo Cabral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sandrinho da Fonseca was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benjamim Cunha in the 24th minute of play forced Itapora's goalkeeper Sandrinho da Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute, Erasmo Cabral got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ronaldinho de Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabiano Lara in the 28th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Itapora's zone, Erasmo Cabral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sandrinho da Fonseca came out of the goal and Erasmo Cabral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ronaldinho de Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Virgílio Antunes in the 35th minute of the match. Grajau AD's Erasmo Cabral got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 41stth minute of the game Benjamim Cunha who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Itapora's Sandrinho da Fonseca was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 48 minutes into the match, Itapora's goal looked a bit too open when Erasmo Cabral came free, but Sandrinho da Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 51st minute, Aírton Mello got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 53 minutes of play, Grajau AD's Benjamim Cunha made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sandrinho da Fonseca was left in no man's land by his defense there! Benjamim Cunha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Itapora's Ademar Koehler got a free kick in the 60th minute. After 73 played minutes, Grajau AD's Rogério Loyola shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sandrinho da Fonseca came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Grajau AD reached it. Teodoro Leão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Ronaldinho de Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Teodoro Leão managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itapora's supporters rose to their feet, but Teodoro Leão was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronaldinho de Medeiros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ronaldinho de Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aírton Mello in the 83rd minute of play. Aírton Mello struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Ronaldinho de Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itapora. Fabiano Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A hard shot 96 in the game by Benjamim Cunha from a close distance when the talented Sandrinho da Fonseca managed to make a qualified save. Itapora's players were relieved. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
