Luiz Guilherme Matos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Célio Prestes in the 5th minute of the match. A collision led to Fluminense Football Club getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Mauro de Andrade hit a great ball. João Machado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gil Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Gil Maciel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Machado having to interfere. Tarcisio Bittencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Célio Prestes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Guilherme Matos having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Célio Prestes in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luiz Guilherme Matos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Danilo Miranda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Guilherme Matos having to interfere. Luiz Guilherme Matos made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Danilo Miranda sent off a good shot on target. Fluminense Football Club's Gil Maciel got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tarcisio Bittencourt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Fluminense Football Club's Gil Maciel sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Machado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Tarcisio Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 46 minutes into the match, Geriba's goal looked a bit too open when Arlindo Andrade came free, but João Machado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. João Machado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tarcisio Bittencourt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tarcisio Bittencourt made a kick off. Gil Maciel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 62 minutes, César Ceresso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fluminense Football Club and the Geriba players grew even worse after the yellow card. 61 minutes into the game, one of Fluminense Football Club:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Luiz Guilherme Matos had in the 63rdth minute some difficulties stopping Eusébio Almeida's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 63rd minute, Eusébio Almeida made a precise shot to the right of Luiz Guilherme Matos. Fluminense Football Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Célio Prestes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luiz Guilherme Matos having to make a save. João Machado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tarcisio Bittencourt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 73 minutes, Hugo Rocha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Geriba and the Fluminense Football Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 73rd match minute, Geriba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Rocha to maneuver through the defense. In the 76th minute of the match Ian Botelho shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luiz Guilherme Matos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Tarcisio Bittencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Marcus Meireles kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. After having played for 87 minutes, Mauro de Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fluminense Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mauro de Andrade was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Tarcisio Bittencourt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but João Machado was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. 93 minutes into the match, Geriba's goal looked a bit too open when Tarcisio Bittencourt came free, but João Machado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gil Maciel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. João Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 96th minute Célio Prestes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Guilherme Matos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gil Maciel struck a weak shot in the 100th minute. João Machado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fluminense Football Club. For all the effort they put into the match, the Fluminense Football Club players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Geriba.
