The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 7 minutes into the match, Frank Cearense notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Lupuna's Sérgio Lara. Sérgio Lara was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 10th minute, Ulisses Freire got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Cearense in the 12th minute of play forced Lupuna's goalkeeper Sérgio Lara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Cararbas's goal looked a bit too open when Dadá Corrêa came free, but Gualter Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Eusébio Azevedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gualter Perez. Cararbas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eusébio Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dadá Corrêa in the 28th minute of play forced Cararbas's goalkeeper Gualter Perez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eusébio Azevedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Cararbas getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Agnaldo Couto hit a great ball. Dadá Corrêa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gualter Perez having to interfere. In the 40th minute Dadá Corrêa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gualter Perez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frank Cearense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sérgio Lara having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dadá Corrêa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the game, one of Lupuna:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. João Paulo Seco walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. After some careless play in the Lupuna defense, Frank Cearense kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sérgio Lara. The Lupuna fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sérgio Lara should have stopped the shot. In the 70th minute, Lupuna's Aloísio Vinhas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gualter Perez. Gualter Perez yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. Lupuna's Sérgio Lara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Cearense in the 75th minute of play. When Eusébio Azevedo came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Lupuna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eusébio Azevedo couldn't finish the play. Sérgio Lara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ulisses Freire in the 80th minute of the match. Cícero Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gualter Perez having to interfere. Cararbas's Gualter Perez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Cararbas from getting a goal against them. Eusébio Azevedo scored 2-3 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gualter Perez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Lupuna's Tomé Urbano got a free kick in the 100th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Lupuna had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
