If Reinaldo Corrêa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Willian Bastos got free with Albertino Viana in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Reinaldo Corrêa might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Albertino Viana. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reinaldo Corrêa ran back to his position shaking his head. Abelardo Arce's late challenge caught a Vassoura EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Abelardo Arce helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 23rd minute of the game. One of Vasconcelos EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Vassoura EC:s goal. Albertino Viana came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Vassoura EC's Eriberto Marques. But to his dismay, Eriberto Marques quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Vasconcelos EC's Albertino Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aleandro de Alcântara in the 29th minute of play. Zé Pedro Eger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isaltino Santos in the 35th minute of the match. Isaltino Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Zé Pedro Eger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 45 minutes into the game, Aleandro de Alcântara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vassoura EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vasconcelos EC the free kick. After a defensive mix-up in Vassoura EC's zone, Isaltino Santos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Pedro Eger came out of the goal and Isaltino Santos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 74th minute Isaltino Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Pedro Eger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
