Jeremias Meireles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 12 minutes into the match, Guarda SS's goal looked a bit too open when Nuno Brodel came free, but Eduardo Ramalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 14 minutes into the game, Dorival Leite was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Formoso SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guarda SS the free kick. The supporters of Guarda SS booed when Formoso SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorival Leite didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jeremias Meireles showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jeremias Meireles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aldo Tofani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 26 minutes into the match, Guarda SS's goal looked a bit too open when Nuno Brodel came free, but Eduardo Ramalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 1-0 became the score in the 26th minute when Nuno Brodel elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 30 minutes into the match, Guarda SS's goal looked a bit too open when André Luís Toledo came free, but Eduardo Ramalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nuno Brodel to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, André Luís Toledo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Formoso SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guarda SS the free kick. A collision led to Formoso SS getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. André Luís Toledo hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 55 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Aldo Tofani sped through Formoso SS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jeremias Meireles. In the 58th minute, Aldo Tofani got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eduardo Ramalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nuno Brodel, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Olavo Sarmento took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 62nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eduardo Ramalho. Guarda SS's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Elano Arce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aldo Tofani's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jeremias Meireles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. Elano Arce was extremely unlucky when he, in the 70th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After 71 minutes, Aldo Tofani made it 1-3 with a short kick to the right side. Formoso SS's Jeremias Meireles tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Eduardo Valadares in the 75th minute of play forced Guarda SS's goalkeeper Eduardo Ramalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Formoso SS's Luís Eduardo Valadares in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 94th minute Luís Eduardo Valadares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Ramalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Formoso SS supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Guarda SS's performance. The match ended with a win for Guarda SS.
