Enrique Pena was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 12 minutes into the match. 11 minutes into the game, one of Tulhas SC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave A.D. Ponte Mirim a penalty, 14 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Leonardo Rossi, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Tulhas SC's Agenor do Vale. 0-1. In the 20th minute, Fausto Abraão fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The audience was convinced that Genílson Baptista's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Agenor do Vale was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Agenor do Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Genílson Baptista in the 27th minute of the match. Durvalino Bittencourt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fausto Abraão in the 29th minute. Genílson Baptista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agenor do Vale having to interfere. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gugu Maranhense to make the kick off. Agenor do Vale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gugu Maranhense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 55 minutes into the match, Genílson Baptista notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Tulhas SC's Agenor do Vale. Agenor do Vale was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 65 played minutes Tulhas SC got a freekick which was hit by Rui Cardoso. A.D. Ponte Mirim's Leonardo Rossi shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 66th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Agenor do Vale but with some difficulty. In the 69th minute, Genílson Baptista got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Genílson Baptista managed to get in a good position for a shot. A.D. Ponte Mirim's supporters rose to their feet, but Genílson Baptista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Agenor do Vale breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gugu Maranhense in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Agenor do Vale saved Tulhas SC from getting behind. In the 91st minute of the match, Gugu Maranhense tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Agenor do Vale saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Sílvio de Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agenor do Vale having to interfere. Rui Cardoso hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Gugu Maranhense struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Agenor do Vale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for A.D. Ponte Mirim. A.D. Ponte Mirim's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
