Apiuna FC's Sidnei Vale was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Pedrão Coelho in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Denílson Araújo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Denílson Araújo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edgard do Vale read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. When Valdir Neiva fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Apiuna FC's protests and gave Valdir Neiva a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Apiuna FC's Valdir Neiva got a free kick in the 15th minute. Apiuna FC's Edgard do Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Germano Bertassi in the 32nd minute of play. Davi Marques fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedrão Coelho having to interfere. If Zé Augusto Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th match minute, Relvado SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dito Pinho to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Relvado SC's zone, Davi Marques stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedrão Coelho came out of the goal and Davi Marques tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zé Augusto Souza to strike the kick off in the second half. Pedrão Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Augusto Souza in the 54th minute of play. 57 minutes into the game, Zacarias Mangueira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Relvado SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Apiuna FC the free kick. 56 minutes into the game, one of Relvado SC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Relvado SC's Germano Bertassi got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Paulo José Antunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Pedrão Coelho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Apiuna FC's Pedrão Coelho threw himself towards the right post 69 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Valdir Neiva, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The audience thought a goal was coming when Davi Marques got free with Pedrão Coelho in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Zé Augusto Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Augusto Souza in the 102nd minute of play forced Relvado SC's goalkeeper Pedrão Coelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Apiuna FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
