With a little luck, Calixto FC's Carlos Alberto Meira got control of the ball when Bruninho Rodrigues tried to sneak it across the goal line. Evaristo Damião tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Evaristo Damião showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fernando Abraão, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. 39 minutes into the match, Jonia's Cássio da Costa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlos Alberto Meira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jonia's Evaristo Damião played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fernando Abraão in the 47th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luiz Fernando Abraão to strike the kick off in the second half. Cássio da Costa struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Carlos Alberto Meira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jonia. Jonia's Cássio da Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bruninho Rodrigues sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 63rd minute by Luiz Fernando Abraão got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Tomás Brito could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Evaristo Damião made a huge save. Cássio da Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonia's Evaristo Damião proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Jonia from getting a goal against them. Carlos Alberto Meira didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Jonia's Cássio da Costa shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Luiz Fernando Abraão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 91 minutes into the match, Jonia's Carlos Baiano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlos Alberto Meira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Calixto FC's zone, Cássio da Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Alberto Meira came out of the goal and Cássio da Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cássio da Costa might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlos Alberto Meira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cássio da Costa ran back to his position shaking his head. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
