In the 2nd minute, Alex Fernandez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Terreiro SC's Aloísio Couto got a free kick in the 7th minute. Jonas Albuquerque kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the match, Terreiro SC's goal looked a bit too open when Naldo Montenegro came free, but Carlos Eduardo Carioca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Gil Domingues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Naldo Montenegro in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carlos Eduardo Carioca saved Terreiro SC from getting behind. 28 minutes in the game, Naldo Montenegro dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Romário da Costa took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlinhos Perez. Carlinhos Perez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gil Domingues got free with Carlos Eduardo Carioca in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Naldo Montenegro in the 40th minute of play forced Terreiro SC's goalkeeper Carlos Eduardo Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41stth minute of the game Gil Domingues who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Terreiro SC's Carlos Eduardo Carioca was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 42 minutes into the game, Cristian Meirelles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Terreiro SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ypiranga SC the free kick. In the 42nd minute, Cristian Meirelles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Terreiro SC's Carlos Eduardo Carioca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Terreiro SC from getting a goal against them. Gil Domingues sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 49 minutes into the game, Romário da Costa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Carlinhos Perez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Ypiranga SC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Terreiro SC were winning 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Romário da Costa was the one to do the kick off. Carlos Eduardo Carioca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Naldo Montenegro in the 54th minute of play. Carlinhos Perez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romário da Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vágner Loyola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 58th match minute, Ypiranga SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Léo Trancoso to maneuver through the defense. Léo Trancoso kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Naldo Montenegro in the 66th minute of play forced Terreiro SC's goalkeeper Carlos Eduardo Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Durvalino Barreto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gil Domingues sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 73rd minute, Gil Domingues got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carlos Eduardo Carioca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Naldo Montenegro in the 74th minute of the match. A collision led to Terreiro SC getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Aloísio Couto hit a great ball. Gil Domingues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Eduardo Carioca having to interfere. Terreiro SC's Carlos Eduardo Carioca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Naldo Montenegro in the 83rd minute of play. If Romário da Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Naldo Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gil Domingues struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Carlos Eduardo Carioca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ypiranga SC. Cristian Meirelles hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Naldo Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Terreiro SC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
