A well-hit corner resulted in Leopoldo de Alcântara heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Narciso Pereira took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Betão Fonseca to make any attempt to save it. Maurício Macedo kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. After 13 played minutes, Himalaia's Raphael Leal shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Hílton do Valle came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Himalaia reached it. Himalaia were awarded a corner in the 16th minute after Esporte Clube Italva's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Rafinha Baptista took the corner. The corner led Himalaia's Rafinha Baptista to fire away a dangerous shot which Hílton do Valle despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Rafinha Baptista shot a long shot in the 16th minute and a light blocked Hílton do Valle hadn't a chance when the ball went into goal on his right side. It was 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Patrick Xavier during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 21st minute, Patrick Xavier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hílton Travassos scored 2-1 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Betão Fonseca, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Cipriano Cordeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Betão Fonseca was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. After having played for 40 minutes, Ernani Antunes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Himalaia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ernani Antunes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 42nd minute, Pedro Augusto Simão made a precise shot to the right of Hílton do Valle. Esporte Clube Italva's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. If Narciso Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ernani Antunes to strike the kick off in the second half. Narciso Pereira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Narciso Pereira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Betão Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hílton do Valle made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Pedro Augusto Simão sent off a good shot on target. When Leopoldo de Alcântara fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Esporte Clube Italva's protests and gave Leopoldo de Alcântara a yellow card for diving instead. Leopoldo de Alcântara hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. When Kiko Freitas fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Himalaia's protests and gave Kiko Freitas a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Esporte Clube Italva booed when Himalaia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kiko Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Betão Fonseca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hílton Travassos in the 66th minute of the match. After 68 minutes of play Himalaia's Kiko Freitas was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 70 minutes into the match, Himalaia's goal looked a bit too open when Hílton Travassos came free, but Betão Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 73 minutes into the game, Ernani Antunes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Himalaia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esporte Clube Italva the free kick. The supporters of Esporte Clube Italva booed when Himalaia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernani Antunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Patrick Xavier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Himalaia defense, Hílton Travassos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Betão Fonseca. The Himalaia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Betão Fonseca should have stopped the shot. 85 minutes into the match, Esporte Clube Italva's Narciso Pereira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Betão Fonseca narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Patrick Xavier hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Narciso Pereira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Betão Fonseca having to interfere.
