Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Celso de Carvalho started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Toca SC's zone, Celso de Carvalho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Toninho Pernambucano came out of the goal and Celso de Carvalho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 11 played minutes Toca SC got a freekick which was hit by Almir Veloso. When Campanha's Dário Fonseca in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Toca SC's goalie prevented a goal. 18 minutes into the match, Guilherme Quirino dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Miguel Carioca, 1-0. 24 minutes into the match, Campanha's goalkeeper Miguel Carioca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hélder Mendes. Toninho Pernambucano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso de Carvalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Miguel Carioca made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Joaquim do Nascimento sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Guilherme Quirino's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Miguel Carioca was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. After 34 played minutes Campanha got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo Simões. Toca SC's Hélder Mendes got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Toca SC booed when Campanha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dário Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guilherme Quirino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Hélder Mendes struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Miguel Carioca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Toca SC. Miguel Carioca stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Guilherme Quirino's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Celso de Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Toninho Pernambucano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Campanha defense, Hélder Mendes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Miguel Carioca. The Campanha fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Miguel Carioca should have stopped the shot. Celso de Carvalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 76 minutes into the game, Joaquim do Nascimento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Toca SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Campanha the free kick. In the 76th match minute, Toca SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim do Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Sydney Tróia from long distance, 77 minutes into the match, got Toninho Pernambucano's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Pedro Augusto Soeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match.
