The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Beto de Azevedo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 10th minute, Cássio Batista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 12th minute Padilha SC were awarded a corner. Rogério de Souza went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Rogério de Souza got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Edmílson Queiroz quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Padilha SC booed when Queluz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vinícius Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Padilha SC's Rogério de Souza broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 20th minute, Ernani Rezende ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edmílson Queiroz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Ernani Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmílson Queiroz having to interfere. After having played for 37 minutes, Wiliam de Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Queluz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wiliam de Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wiliam de Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Beto de Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Bebeto Terra fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Padilha SC's protests and gave Bebeto Terra a yellow card for diving instead. Bebeto Terra kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Edmílson Queiroz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ernani Silveira in the 54th minute. Ernani Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Edmílson Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Padilha SC's Ernani Rezende got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Bebeto Terra came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Padilha SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bebeto Terra couldn't finish the play. After 69 minutes, Amadeu Dias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Padilha SC and the Queluz players grew even worse after the yellow card. Amadeu Dias kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. In the 70th minute of the match Cássio Batista sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Beto de Azevedo skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Padilha SC booed when Queluz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrício de Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Queluz's Ademar Linhares got a free kick in the 82nd minute. In the 83rd minute, Padilha SC's Ernani Silveira dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-3.
