Fred Loyola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilson Pires in the 3rd minute of the match. In the 5th minute, Benjamim Lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Fundao SS booed when Toldo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilson Pires didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Fundao SS's Edinho Abraão got a free kick in the 8th minute. In the 14th minute of the match Reinaldo Coelho sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elias Marques skillfully saved the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edinho Meireles during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Wilson Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Loyola having to interfere. With a little luck, Fundao SS's Fred Loyola got control of the ball when Dadá Silva tried to sneak it across the goal line. After taking down the ball on Toldo's corner Davi Madureira fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Fred Loyola quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmílson da Costa in the 37th minute of play forced Toldo's goalkeeper Elias Marques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dadá Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Loyola having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Fundao SS's goal looked a bit too open when Wilson Pires came free, but Fred Loyola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wilson Pires stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Elias Marques took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmílson da Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Edmílson da Costa came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Fundao SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmílson da Costa couldn't finish the play. Edmílson da Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elias Marques having to interfere. Fred Loyola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dadá Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fundao SS's Fred Loyola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dadá Silva in the 83rd minute of play. Wilson Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Loyola having to interfere. Dadá Silva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Fred Loyola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 92nd minute, Wilson Pires made a precise shot to the right of Fred Loyola. Fundao SS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0.
