The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Léo Leal fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chafariz's protests and gave Léo Leal a yellow card for diving instead. Hortêncio Mesquita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederico Vides having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vágner Meirelles in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pedrinho Veloso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Futebol Clube Cascavel's Geraldo Tepedino was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 34th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. 44 minutes in the game Renatinho Furtado did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Hortêncio Mesquita. In the 47th match minute, Chafariz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Léo Leal to maneuver through the defense. Chafariz's Bernard Filipkowski was substituted for Jardel Leão. The supporters of Futebol Clube Cascavel booed when Chafariz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 49 match minutes in a wonderful position. Léo Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Falcão Couto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Frederico Vides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedrinho Veloso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vágner Meirelles, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. In the 65th minute, Vágner Meirelles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 68 minutes of play, Futebol Clube Cascavel's Vágner Meirelles made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pedrinho Veloso was left in no man's land by his defense there! Rômulo Carvalho struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Frederico Vides didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chafariz. After having played for 94 minutes, Falcão Couto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chafariz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Falcão Couto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 96th minute, Futebol Clube Cascavel's Sidney Salgado seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Sidney Salgado the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Futebol Clube Cascavel protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Sidney Salgado had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After a rather tough play, Futebol Clube Cascavel's Sidney Salgado got a free kick in the 97th minute. In the 98th minute the ball was on its way in behind Futebol Clube Cascavel's goalkeeper Frederico Vides, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Chafariz's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
