Duda Alcântara's late challenge caught a THE MAYA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Duda Alcântara helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Galaticos's Duda Alcântara got a free kick in the 2nd minute. After 3 minutes, Guga Almeida mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Galaticos and the THE MAYA players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Gilmar Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, THE MAYA's Romeu Pirani got a free kick in the 10th minute. After 17 minutes Galaticos's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marco Albuquerque who took care of the corner kick. In the 28th match minute, THE MAYA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romeu Pirani to maneuver through the defense. Gilmar Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Pirani having to interfere. Francisco Pirani stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gilmar Azevedo's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. If Simão de Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Duda Alcântara kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. If Geraldo Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 47 played minutes Galaticos got a freekick which was hit by Luís Paulo Linares. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carlos Fernando Martins was the one to do the kick off. Francisco Pirani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simão de Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Simão de Barros notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Galaticos's Francisco Pirani. Francisco Pirani was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 62nd minute, Gilmar Azevedo made a precise shot to the right of Francisco Pirani. Galaticos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. 66 minutes into the match, THE MAYA's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Fernando Martins came free, but Claudinho Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Marco Albuquerque ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Francisco Pirani was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. 76 minutes into the match, Galaticos's goal looked a bit too open when Osvaldinho Mazza came free, but Francisco Pirani reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Galaticos getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Duda Alcântara hit a great ball. When THE MAYA's Osvaldinho Mazza in the 78th minute got a chance for a shot 78th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
