The audience thought a goal was coming when Célio Nunes got free with João Carlos Carvalho in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Flalemanha's goalkeeper Eugênio Tepedino, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Old Glory getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Alexsandro Meireles hit a great ball. Old Glory's Evaristo Silveira got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Flalemanha's Eugênio Tepedino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexsandro Meireles in the 24th minute of play. When Old Glory's Evaristo Silveira in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Flalemanha's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Flalemanha's zone, Alexsandro Meireles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugênio Tepedino came out of the goal and Alexsandro Meireles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Old Glory's Alexsandro Meireles got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Flalemanha's zone, Evaristo Silveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugênio Tepedino came out of the goal and Evaristo Silveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. João Carlos Carvalho made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Célio Nunes sent off a good shot on target. Old Glory's João Carlos Carvalho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Old Glory from getting a goal against them. Célio Nunes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but João Carlos Carvalho made a huge save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. José Augusto Mendonça was the one to do the kick off. João Carlos Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Célio Nunes in the 52nd minute of the match. Telmo Peres lost his temper 54 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 54th minute, Telmo Peres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. João Carlos Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Célio Nunes in the 55th minute of play. In the 57th minute, Célio Nunes made a precise shot to the right of João Carlos Carvalho. Old Glory's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Old Glory's Alexsandro Meireles managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Conrado Silveira in the 61 minute of the game. 63 minutes into the match, Célio Nunes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Carlos Carvalho. Old Glory's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Célio Nunes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After 69 played minutes Flalemanha got a freekick which was hit by Conrado Silveira. Eugênio Tepedino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evaristo Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If José Augusto Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Evaristo Silveira came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Old Glory fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evaristo Silveira couldn't finish the play. Eugênio Tepedino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evaristo Silveira in the 88th minute of the match. Eugênio Tepedino was a little too slow when Evaristo Silveira got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 93rd minute. The score was now 2-1. Old Glory's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
