In the 16th minute of the match, Arnaldo Martins got a very nice opportunity to score, but Loramendi Cabarcos was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Luisão Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandro de Queirós in the 21st minute of play. GALAXY RANGERS's Luisão Barros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anísio Queirós in the 22nd minute of play. Durval Trigo kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Loramendi Cabarcos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Eduardo Matorin, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anísio Queirós in the 33rd minute of play forced GALAXY RANGERS's goalkeeper Luisão Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Anísio Queirós in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luisão Barros prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luisão Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Neymar Junior in the 42nd minute of play. Luisão Barros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anísio Queirós in the 44th minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Bebeto Sarmento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arnaldo Martinss short, quick shot in the 47thth minute got Loramendi Cabarcos to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO's Neymar Junior got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sandro de Queirós scored 0-1 in the 55th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luisão Barros, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 61 played minutes E.C. RIO DE JANEIRO got a freekick which was hit by Izel Carrion.
