Paulistão's Lucio Cucao played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Eduardo Ceresso in the 7th minute of play. Luís Eduardo Ceresso took the ball and in the 7 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lucio Cucao. Lucio Cucao dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Atlético Campoverdense's Luís Eduardo Ceresso got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Conrado Barbosa made in the 14th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Guilherme Senna however managed to control. Ivo Trancoso kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. With a little luck, E.C. Paulistão's Lucio Cucao got control of the ball when Jon Samuelsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Skafti Hermansson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luís Paiva's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Eduardo Ceresso in the 30th minute of play forced E.C. Paulistão's goalkeeper Lucio Cucao to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Conrado Barbosa hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luís Paiva to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Eduardo Ceresso in the 54th minute of play forced E.C. Paulistão's goalkeeper Lucio Cucao to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 57 minutes, Luís Eduardo Ceresso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético Campoverdense and the E.C. Paulistão players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luís Eduardo Ceresso hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. When Raphael Andrade fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored E.C. Paulistão's protests and gave Raphael Andrade a yellow card for diving instead. Atlético Campoverdense's Delfim Barral was substituted for Luizão Sá. A collision led to E.C. Paulistão getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Raphael Andrade hit a great ball. The supporters of E.C. Paulistão booed when Atlético Campoverdense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andrézinho Souto didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute of the match Hamílton Donatello shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Skafti Hermansson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 73rd match minute, E.C. Paulistão was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Paiva to maneuver through the defense. A sloppy throw-in by Conrado Barbosa in the 77th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by E.C. Paulistão's José Neiva. Luís Eduardo Ceresso scored 3-1 in the 83rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lucio Cucao, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 86 minutes into the game, Ivo Trancoso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atlético Campoverdense's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave E.C. Paulistão the free kick. The supporters of E.C. Paulistão booed when Atlético Campoverdense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivo Trancoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luís Paiva kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. In the 90th minute, Luís Eduardo Ceresso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lucio Cucao was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jon Samuelsson in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lucio Cucao saved E.C. Paulistão from getting behind. E.C. Paulistão's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
