The audience was convinced that Aureliano Poncio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcelo Donatello was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Chicão Brodel kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Marcelo Donatello. That made the score 3-1 in the 47 minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mauro Meirelles stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bernardinho Pena struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute.
