The referee showed Erik de Alcântara the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 16th minute, Silvério Pinheiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GRÊMIO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Germano Moraes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 史挺南's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. With a little luck, GRÊMIO's Sergio Goicoechea got control of the ball when Tomás Senna tried to sneak it across the goal line. Germano Moraes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abel Pirani in the 22nd minute of the match. A collision led to GRÊMIO getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Tiago Xavier hit a great ball. Germano Moraes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 史挺南, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by 史挺南 in the 29th minute of play forced Mundial EC's goalkeeper Germano Moraes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute 史挺南 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Germano Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomás Senna was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 31st minute. Mundial EC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Through an outstanding action, after 31 minutes, Sergio Goicoechea successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Mundial EC's Reinaldo de Alcântara was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 33rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Germano Moraes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abel Pirani in the 39th minute of play. Reinaldo de Alcântara came free with the goalkeeper in the 40th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Sergio Goicoechea could save by the left post. Germano Moraes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 史挺南, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 43rd minute of the match GRÊMIO got a corner. Mundial EC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Aníbal Moura ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Silvério Pinheiro managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 45 minutes into the game, Tomás Senna recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sergio Goicoechea. Tomás Senna showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when 史挺南 stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Gustavo Mazza in the 52nd minute of play forced Mundial EC's goalkeeper Germano Moraes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th minute Luiz Gustavo Mazza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Germano Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomás Senna in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sergio Goicoechea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Germano Moraes made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Luiz Gustavo Mazza sent off a good shot on target. GRÊMIO's Sergio Goicoechea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomás Senna in the 59th minute of play. 59 minutes into the game, Mundial EC's Tomás Senna nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sergio Goicoechea made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Germano Moraes made an important save on a dangerous shot by 史挺南 in the 62nd minute. Mundial EC's Germano Moraes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Mundial EC from getting a goal against them. Germano Moraes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvério Pinheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 76thth minute of the game Abel Pirani who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mundial EC's Germano Moraes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomás Senna in the 79th minute of play forced GRÊMIO's goalkeeper Sergio Goicoechea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of GRÊMIO booed when Mundial EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reinaldo de Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Silvério Pinheiro was extremely unlucky when he, in the 82nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The GRÊMIO fans' excitement grew in the 82nd match minute when GRÊMIO's 史挺南 looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 85th match minute, Mundial EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dinei Rodrigues to maneuver through the defense. Germano Moraes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aníbal Moura in the 87th minute. In the 89th minute Silvério Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Germano Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomás Senna in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sergio Goicoechea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. GRÊMIO were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
