The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Seterma Tractors's goalkeeper Patrik Sikström, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 10 played minutes Seterma Tractors got a freekick which was hit by Gil Neves. After some careless play in the Seterma Tractors defense, João Vítor Barros kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Patrik Sikström. The Seterma Tractors fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Patrik Sikström should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Enéas de Toledo got free with Er Miner in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 19th match minute, Countdown FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edvaldo Reis to maneuver through the defense. 23 minutes into the game, Countdown FC's Washington Demartis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Patrik Sikström made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Er Miner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ademir Tande, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 26 minutes into the match, Countdown FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ademir Tande came free, but Er Miner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Er Miner made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Enéas de Toledo sent off a good shot on target. Paulo Renato Pombal's late challenge caught a Countdown FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paulo Renato Pombal helped the player get up and apologised. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Vítor Barros in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patrik Sikström saved Seterma Tractors from getting behind. Seterma Tractors's Patrik Sikström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Washington Demartis in the 42nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Vítor Barros in the 44th minute of play forced Seterma Tractors's goalkeeper Patrik Sikström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When João Vítor Barros came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Countdown FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Vítor Barros couldn't finish the play. The Seterma Tractors players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Countdown FC were winning 0-3.

Washington Demartis's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Patrik Sikström firmly grabbed it by the left post. 53 minutes into the match, Ernani Valadares notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Seterma Tractors's Patrik Sikström. Patrik Sikström was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 57 minutes into the match, Seterma Tractors's goal looked a bit too open when João Vítor Barros came free, but Patrik Sikström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 58 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Washington Demartis sped through Seterma Tractors's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Patrik Sikström. If Nilton de Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patrik Sikström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adriano Cardozo in the 71st minute. In the 73rd minute João Vítor Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrik Sikström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aníbal Mesquita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Er Miner having to interfere. Washington Demartis who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 93rdth minute tested the skills of Patrik Sikström when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The Countdown FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Countdown FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
