Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dante Napier in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roque Pepillo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Bernal booed when River plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilberto Jaunzuria didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th match minute, Bernal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gervasio Fresco to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Dante Napier's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Roque Pepillo was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Bernal's Gervasio Fresco got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eloy Pitin to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dante Napier got free with Roque Pepillo in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 88 minutes into the match, River plate's Eloy Pitin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rosendo Normando narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dante Napier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Roque Pepillo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Despite being the better team, Bernal failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
