Lapachito's Hugo Gatti proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Lapachito from getting a goal against them. After 39 played minutes Lapachito got a freekick which was hit by Domingos Nayely. In the 41st minute, Patricio Innocenzio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Villaguay FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Hugo Gatti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teofilo Quirce in the 45th minute of play. If Danilo Merexildo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Danilo Merexildo to make the kick off. Hugo Gatti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Innocenzio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hugo Gatti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Innocenzio in the 58th minute of play. Ermegildo Isusko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danilo Merexildo, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Patricio Innocenzio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Gatti having to interfere. In the 66th minute Patricio Innocenzio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Gatti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arnoldo Feliu charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arnoldo Feliu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Lapachito's Alexander Kjørstad got a free kick in the 86th minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Villaguay FC had won after a very even match.
