When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Anier Iyan made a kick off. When Ernesto Larpe fell near the penalty area in the 50th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored River plate's protests and gave Ernesto Larpe a yellow card for diving instead. In the 50th minute, Ernesto Larpe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Serafin Abreu charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 78th minute, one of Bermejo AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Bermejo AFC. The goalkeeper, Sixto Tomi, was totally fooled by River plate's Victorino Peio, who 79 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side.
