A collision led to Abel getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Haroldo Bemabe hit a great ball. In the 15th minute, Ubaldo Medardo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roque Sandaili fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cecilio Veronica having to interfere. Gonzalo Sindo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ubaldo Medardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 26 minutes into the game, Santos Frederico threw the ball into play from the sideline. Abel's Aaron Estevon quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Fernando Felipo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gonzalo Sindo having to interfere. In the 32nd match minute, Abel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roque Sandaili to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of RIVER booed when Abel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Tomas Eli made the kick off in the second half. When Haroldo Bemabe came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Abel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Haroldo Bemabe couldn't finish the play. In the 55th minute, Ubaldo Medardo made a precise shot to the right of Gonzalo Sindo. Abel's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Fernando Felipo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Gonzalo Sindo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Fernando Felipo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Ariel Neto fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Abel's protests and gave Ariel Neto a yellow card for diving instead. In the 90th minute, Ariel Neto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. RIVER's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
